GUWAHATI: A minor boy was abducted last night at about 2 am while he was sleeping by the side of his mother at his residence in Bamunimaidam, Moila Tanki.
On investigation, Chandmari Police led by the Officer in Charge, apprehended one Mamtaj Ali (rickshaw puller) from Kamakhya Railway Station today, 19th August.
The victim was taken out through a window near the bed while he was sleeping beside his mother.
The accused also made ransom calls demanding 10 lakh rupees from the minor's parents.
After sustained interrogation, the arrested person confessed his involvement and led the police party to Bamunimaidam Bihu Field where he had kept the victim hidden in a small patch of jungle.
The mobile phone from which the demand was made was also recovered.
The minor has been taken to hospital for a check-up.
