Mayor announced the development in a press conference held at the Conference Hall of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) office in Uzan Bazar. This financial assistance is aimed at easing the shift and will remain available until June 30.

A joint survey is being conducted by officials of both GMC and GJB. As part of the phased plan, the existing GMC water supply system will be discontinued from July 1.

The subsidy scheme will not be limited to individual households. It will also cover religious institutions, namghars, community halls, mahila samitis, clubs and similar organisations.
