GUWAHATI: Near the DGP Office in Ulubari, Guwahati a truck laden with cylinders from IOCL broke down after colliding with a tree. Following the incident, traffic jam ensued in the area which disrupted commuters going to their work. The incident took place at around 10 AM, as per officials.
The Guwahati Traffic Police rushed to the stop to take stock of the situation and clear traffic at the busy intersection.
Speaking to G Plus, the traffic police in charge said, "We responded to the call that a truck carrying cylinders has broken down in the area. We intervened to clear the traffic and are currently focusing on managing the same. After that, we will investigate the matter if there is any other cause leading to the situation. As per our inquest, the truck collided with the tree as another 4-wheeler tried to overtake it".
G Plus spoke to the truck driver who revealed that "a small car made a sharp turn due to which the truck collided with the tree".
The traffic started to ease by 11 AM and a tempo from Mahalaxmi Gas agency came to unload the cylinders from the truck to the auto.
