GUWAHATI: A youth drowned in the Sukreswar ghat of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati on November 3.

The man identified as Brijesh Mahaseth was involved in the Kali puja presidings of Shyam Sundar of KC Patwari Lane, Manipuri Basti. Brijesh was involved in the puja and had taken the idol to the ghat for the immersion procedure in which he along with two others drowned in the river.
The onlookers and the people present at the location tried to rescue Brijesh but failed to. Post the incident, the locals informed the Panbazar police.
The police along with NDRF launched a rescue operation in which the two other men were rescued except Brijesh. His body was recovered and has been sent for post-mortem.
