GUWAHATI: The city police arrested a man on Thursday, May 30 for allegedly extorting money from a businesswoman.

The suspect, Nipon Das, hails from Ghograpar in Nalbari.
Das had reportedly been blackmailing Pari Kalita, a coal trader, for an extended period. He was apprehended in the Lakhiminagar area of the city while attempting to collect the demanded money.
Previously, Nipon Das had worked as a driver for Pari Kalita. On Wednesday night, he allegedly forced his way into Kalita's residence and damaged two mobile phones.
Talking to GPlus, a police official from Dispur police station confirmed the incident and stated that a case had been filed, and they are currently investigating the matter.
