GUWAHATI: Elections for the post of Doloi or head priest of Sri Sri Maa Kamakhya Devalaya was held on Sunday, November 28. Of the 5 candidates in the running, Kabindra Prasad Sarma received the most votes and was elected as the Doloi with 220 votes, while Himadri Sarma was elected as the Xoru Doloi (assistant to the head priest) with 172 votes.
Around 466 ‘Bordeuries’ of the Kamakhya Dham made the selection of the Dolois, Kamakhya officials told G Plus.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (M) observed the poll process in the morning in presence of the election officers of the District administration.
Besides functioning as the head priest, Doloi also functions as manager of the Temple Management committee.
