This initiative is part of a broader project capable of facilitating up to 110,000 domestic service meters. To date, 14,142 house service connections have already been provided, benefiting 28,492 households across 53 District Metering Areas (DMAs).
Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal has urged residents to seize this opportunity and apply for water connections in the designated area. To streamline the process, applications can be submitted via the Guwahati Jal Board mobile app, making it more convenient for citizens.
To minimise disruption, the GJB has committed to coordinate road excavation work, ensuring water connections are installed efficiently while reducing inconvenience. Minister Singhal also appealed to the public for cooperation in enabling smooth installation of clean tap water connections and timely road restoration efforts.
As part of its inclusive approach, the GJB, in collaboration with the Guwahati Municipal Corporation, is offering subsidised water connections for eligible below-poverty-line (BPL) families. Subsidies of up to ₹7,000 are available for households with valid ration cards, with registration for this scheme already underway.
Residents have been encouraged to apply for these connections through the GJB mobile app, available on the Google Play Store, or by contacting the dedicated helplines at 60039 20846 or 60024 78263.
