GUWAHATI: Internet services are likely to get restored by 5pm after the Guwahati High Court today directed the Assam Government to resume the services.
It is to be mentioned that the HC on December 17 passed an order which directed the Assam government to consider resumption of mobile internet services from 3.00pm on Tuesday.
On the issue, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that “after reviewing the situation with security agencies it has been decided that the ban on mobile internet will continue for another two days.”
Meanwhile, due to the suspension of internet, people depending on online banking are facing huge difficulties and most of the ATMs all across the city are also running dry.
On December 17, Cab drivers of Guwahati who operate through various ride-hailing platforms stated that, they will bring out their 15000 cars onto the streets if internet is not restored.
