Guwahati Included In BCCI's List Of Eligible Cities For New IPL Team

GUWAHATI: Guwahati has been included in the new list of eligible cities prepared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a new Indian Premier League (IPL) team. The BCCI has started the process of introducing two new franchises in the next season of IPL.

The BCCI has put up six cities for proposed IPL teams, including Guwahati, Ranchi, Cuttack, Ahmadabad, Lucknow, and Dharamsala for bidding.

This has been done to contain the zonal imbalance and business opportunities, a report by Cricbuzz said.

News reports indicate a date for the auction has not yet been finalised, but the process is expected to take another month. A base price of Rs 2000 crore has been fixed for each of the new teams.

G Plus reached out to the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) for comment on the matter. An ACA official said that while the Association is aware of these developments, it has not received any formal communication on the matter from the BCCI.
