GUWAHATI: Guwahati resident Shilpa Khanikar has secured the 506th All India Rank in the recently declared 2021 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Exam.
Khanikar is a resident of Hatigaon. She managed to clear the prestigious Civil Services exam in her third attempt.
Interestingly, the first three ranks of the UPSC 2021 exams have all been clinched by women. Shruti Sharma from UP topped the list, followed by Ankita Agrawal and Gamini Singla.
A total of 685 candidates have been selected for appointment to the IFS, IAS, IPS and allied services.
While talking to a local media channel, Khanikar said, "It is so overwhelming. I feel so grateful for being here today and I would like to thank my parents, my extended family for supporting me throughout the journey."
Khanikar did her schooling from Anand Academy in Dispur and pursued her HS from Cotton College in 2013.
She completed her graduation in Electrical Engineering from NIT Silchar in 2017. Shilpa Khanikar also worked for one year and later left the job to prepare for the Civil Services.
