GUWAHATI: A parking place dedicated specifically to accommodate vehicles seized by the Guwahati city police was inaugurated in Gorolia area under Basistha Police Station by Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on 31st October.
DGP Mahanta said that there are a total of 89 vehicles with the police currently. Such abandoned seized vehicles are not just an eyesore in front of the police station complexes but also leave a negative impact on the police and the visitor's minds. He added that it is important to keep these vehicles safe as well.
The dedicated parking place was allotted after request of the same by the committee members of Guwahati Nagarik Samiti to Mahanta for such vehicles' safekeeping right after he was appointed as DGP.
