GUWAHATI: The former student body of K.C. Das Commerce College is set to continue its responsibilities, ensuring continuity in student leadership and representation within the institution.
Earlier, the student elections of 2023 at KC Das Commerce College were abruptly cancelled.
The election results, initially announced on September 22, failed to pave the way for the traditional oath-taking ceremony of the winning candidates, which should have occurred within a stipulated seven-day period as per the college's constitution.
The delay in conducting the oath-taking ceremony resulted in growing frustration among the student body.
Speaking to GPlus, a source within the college confirmed, "The former General Secretary has retained the post of General Secretary, also taking on the role of Social Service Secretary."
Additionally, "The former Vice President has not only retained the Vice President's position but has also been elected as the President and will oversee the Boys’ Common Room,” the source said.
Speaking to GPlus, Hrishikesh Baruah, the principal of KC Das Commerce College, shared his perspective on this development.
Baruah affirmed, "The previous students' union will continue its activities within our college, and we are confident that all students will actively participate."
