GUWAHATI: In a horrific incident on Friday, March 19, a father along with his two sons jumped from a train. The incident occurred at Panikhaiti, Guwahati situated on the south bank of the Brahmaputra River.
As per sources, the father was threatened by some miscreants on the train who alleged to kidnap the sons. This triggered the outcome of the incident. The family originally hailed from Jharkhand and was traveling from a Silchar sourced train.
The locals, upon discovering the family lying near the tracks, intervened in the matter. The Panikhaiti police reached the spot and sent the family to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). As per sources, the health situation of the three has improved.
However, police have claimed that the links to kidnapping cannot be concluded without proper investigation. "They might have just teased the kids as well. We have to first find out the matter," said an official from the Panikhaiti Outpost.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Panikhaiti police are working in tandem for the case.
