A source in the PWD talking to GPlus said, “The construction work in the stretch from Battalion Gate till Cycle factory is on hold for Durga Puja, therefore the one-way restriction has been lifted temporarily in that stretch,” adding that the construction work will be suspended during Puja festivities.
It needs to be mentioned that because of the construction work since last few month the vehicles from Battalion Gate were diverted towards Dhirenpara through Barsapara creating a huge traffic congestion.
Although the one-way restriction from Battalion Gate to Cycle Factory is lifted but the stretch from Cycle Factory to Birubari is still a one-way. The PWD officials and traffic police are trying if the restriction there too can be lifted for Pujas.
A senior official from PWD but informed that during Durga Puja construction work for Lal Ganesh flyover and Chanmari elevated corridor will be suspended.
