GUWAHATI: An individual with a history of drug peddling and theft has been apprehended in the Basistha police station jurisdiction in the alleged possession of suspected heroin along with other miscellaneous items used in the trade on October 11.
The suspect, identified as Ananiash Basumatary, also known as Mithinga aged 34 hails from Darkuchi Bazar in Barkhata in Baksa district.
The operation led to the discovery of 31 plastic vials and 2 tobacco boxes containing suspected heroin, with a total weight of 58.5 grams.
Additionally, authorities seized 3 empty vials, 2 mobile phones, and a sum of ₹3,990 in cash at Jail Road, Surjyadoy Nagar.
As per reports, Ananiash Basumatary was residing in Veterinary Segun Bagan, Missing-Basti in Guwahati.
Necessary formalities are currently being undertaken, and an FIR has been lodged at the Basistha Police Station. Further details are awaited.
