GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident that took place in Guwahati, Law and Order DIG Vivek Raj Singh’s phone was snatched while he was on his routine morning walk on July 23.
According to reports, this incident occurred in Ulubari while Vivek Raj was out on his morning walk.
The perpetrators specifically aimed for Singh's cellphone, taking him by surprise and swiftly fled the scene after snatching it.
The incident happened very close to the Police Headquarters in Ulubari have furthermore raised concerns among public.
A resident of Ulubari while talking to G Plus said, “If such incidents can happen to a DIG and that too just minutes away from the Assam Police Headquarter, I don’t know how to feel safe about our day to day lives anymore.
Speaking to G Plus, an official of Paltan Bazar Police Station said, "It's currently under investigation and further details will be given when we find concrete evidence."
The shocking incident has once again raised serious concerns about the crime scenario in the state capital, Guwahati.
Incidents of theft, burglary, and murder have been frequently reported, prompting authorities to address the pressing issue of public safety in the city.
The police have time and again claimed that they have registered less cases than the past but issues many issues like snatching, two wheeler lifting and so on are yet to be resolved.
