Guwahati-Dhaka Flight Suspended Less Than 3 Months Since Inception

GUWAHATI: The SpiceJet Guwahati-Dhaka direct flight has been suspended less than three months since its launch.

Based on a report by The Assam Tribune, the flight’s operations were suspended last week after officials found a lack of “commercial viability.”

The service has been suspended indefinitely, however, there is a possibility that the flight service might be resumed in the future.

This flight, which was operating under the Central government’s international UDAN programme, started its service on July 1, 2019 from Gopinath Lokpriya Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport.

After its launch, the Guwahati-Dhaka carrier had reduced its frequency of flight services from daily to twice a week. However, after a lack of response and minimal customers, the airline decided to suspend its operation for this route.

It should be noted that there is a possibility that trade and cultural affairs between the northeastern region and Bangladesh might be affected after the closure of this flight service.
