GUWAHATI: Devasish Sharma has been appointed as the Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).
Sharma, an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer is well renowned for his work in Mumbai as the Joint Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan. Sharma will keep the charge additionally along with the new role as the GMC Commissioner.
He was earlier serving as the Additional Commissioner to the Government of Assam, General Administrative Department.
G Plus spoke to Devasish Sharma who said, "I want to approach the role with a positive attitude by taking along all the stakeholders with me."
The new commissioner has acknowledged the challenges faced by the GMC in Guwahati. Sharma is positive to work for the development of Guwahati and has landed in the city on Thursday, May 20 to start his tenure.
The Assam government has transferred many top bureaucrats recently. The former GMC Commissioner Ghanshyam Dass has been transferred and posted as Secretary to the Chief Minister, Assam.
