GUWAHATI: A daylight robbery attempt was foiled by the residents of Kahilipara on Wednesday morning when one individual was seen trying to break in and collect items from a private compound.
The thief was soon apprehended by residents of the area and was handed over to the authorities.
The thief has been identified as Deep Thapa.
While talking to G Plus, a police official of Bhagaduttapur Police Out Post said, “The locals of the area caught the individual after he was caught trying to steal 1-2 kg of iron items which was kept outside in a private compound. We have him in our custody right now.”
“We have sent one of our officials to the area to get the full report. No one has filed an FIR yet,” the police official further said.
This is the second case of theft that has surfaced today, the other being in Gandhi Basti, where too the thief was apprehended and was taken away by the authorities.
