GUWAHATI: A distressing incident occurred on Tuesday when a school bus of IIT Kendriya Vidyalaya suffered damages due to medium-sized concrete blocks falling from the under-construction Maligaon flyover raising concerns about the safety of commuters in the area.
According to an official from Jalukbari Police Station, there were no injuries reported among the students or staff on the bus.
The officer further told that "A teacher filed the FIR immediately after the incident. We are investigating the incident."
The Maligaon flyover, which is currently under construction, has been a subject of growing concern for safety. Commuters have voiced complaints about the construction workers' alleged lack of care and attention, which they say is putting lives at risk.
In a related incident on August 21, two construction workers working on the flyover construction site were electrocuted. They were promptly rushed to the Nemcare hospital for urgent medical attention.
