GUWAHATI: A team from Jorabat Outpost along with Basistha Police Station under the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) intercepted a truck attempting to smuggle live cattle on Jorabat Link Road on October 26.
The raid was made when the vehicle was attempting to smuggle 20 cattle into the neighboring state of Meghalaya. The operation led to the arrest of one Hafizur Rahman, a 35-year-old resident of Rupahi, who was allegedly involved in the unlawful transportation of the cattle.
Guwahati Police took to X to put out, "An EGPD team from Jorabat OP of Basistha PS intercepted one truck (AS01 QC 4423) at Jorabat Link Road while it was trying to smuggle 20 cattle into Meghalaya. One Hafizur Rahman (35) of Rupahi was arrested. Legal action initiated.”
The authorities have initiated the necessary legal proceedings against the arrested individual and further details are awaited.
