Guwahati: Blind Railway Employee Looted At Kamakhya Railway Station

GUWAHATI: In a disturbing incident at Guwahati’s Kamakhya Railway Station, a gang of miscreants allegedly targeted a defenceless blind railway employee, robbing her of her belongings. The shocking incident unfolded when the visually impaired railway employee was confronted by a group of delinquents, who forcefully snatched her mobile phone along with ₹25,000 cash.

Despite the victim's brave attempts to resist, she was overpowered and left in a state of shock as the perpetrators fled the scene. The entire episode was captured on the station's CCTV cameras, providing crucial evidence for the authorities. Sources revealed that the gang consisted of at least two persons.

Following the incident, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) launched a full-scale manhunt to trace the miscreants involved in the robbery. Authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and security of railway employees and the general public, particularly those with disabilities.

Speaking to G Plus, an RPF official shared that, "The woman did not file an official FIR, but, we are working together with GRP to nab the culprits. Two men have been identified with the help of CCTV footage. And we're looking forward to figuring out if there is any larger connection."

This incident has raised serious concerns about the vulnerability of individuals working in essential roles within the railways and highlights the urgent need for enhanced measures to protect such valuable members of the workforce. As investigations continue, calls for increased security measures to safeguard the well-being of railway employees and passengers have grown louder.
