GUWAHATI: Transport, Excise & Fisheries Minister of Assam Parimal Suklabaidya flagged off the newly upgraded Guwahati-Bikaner Express from the Guwahati Railway Station today.
The transformation of this train into a modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) rake is part of Indian Railways' ongoing efforts to provide a superior travel experience to passengers across all its trains. The newly converted LHB train, numbered 15634/33, will operate as the Guwahati–Bikaner–Guwahati Express, departing from Guwahati every Saturday at 10:40 hrs. Covering a distance of approximately 2328 kilometres, the train is expected to complete its journey in approximately 43 hours.
In addition to flagging off the upgraded train, Minister Suklabaidya also engaged in an important discussion with senior officials of the NF Railway Division at the Guwahati Railway Station. The meeting was attended by officials of the rank of Divisional Commercial Manager, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Chief Commercial Manager, and others.
During the discussion, the Minister urged the officials to regularise train services between Brahmaputra and Barak Valley, with the goal of converting weekly trains into daily services. This proposal takes into account the significant population of Barak Valley and the high volume of passenger traffic between the two regions.
