GUWAHATI: The Chhatra Milon Samity in Pan Bazaar is set to organise the Durga Puja in a grand manner this year. The committee has gone all out from bringing in skilled artisans from Bengal to captivating lighting, all for an ethereal experience for the devout people of the city.
The organising committee spared no expense, allocating ₹6 lakhs for the intricately designed pandal and an additional ₹4 lakhs for the creation of the idol itself. To illuminate the festivities, enchanting lights were sourced all the way from Chandan Nagar.
Ensuring security and surveillance, a total of 8 CCTV cameras have also been strategically placed outside the venue, with an additional 2 inside to oversee the festivities.
The idol of Maa Durga which stands at a height of 14 and 1/2 feet has been crafted by Naba Kumar Pal, a skilled artisan from Kumar Tuli, embodying the rich culture of Bengal.
Additionally, the master craftsman from Kolkata has put their unique touch on the Durga idol, making it a divine piece of work.
This year's pandal theme draws inspiration from the rural households of Bengal, promising a unique and immersive experience for visitors.
The overall lighting has been arranged from Chandannagar, in West Bengal to create an uplifting ambiance.
Adding to the event, a skilled Dhaki team comprising ladies from Kolkata will perform, further enhancing the festive ambiance.
There will be numerous cultural programs happening during the puja which include an art competition, conch shell-blowing competition, Ululudwani competition, Dhunuchi competition, and Alpona Rangoli competition which are open to all participants.
