GUWAHATI: In a vibrant celebration of culture and diversity, Athgaon is all set to showcase a tribal-themed Durga Puja Pandal this year.
The roots of this puja trace back to 1983 when the Athgaon Durga Puja Sarbajanin Committee initiated its first celebration. The grand inauguration of the puja pandal is scheduled for October 19, and the festivities will continue until October 24, bringing together the community in a unique tribute to the tribal culture.
Speaking to GPlus, a member of the Athgaon Durga Puja Sarbajanin Committee stated, "Through this tribal theme, we are portraying the culture of tribal groups, including their ornaments, costumes, and lifestyle. We aim to be precise in capturing the essence of their way of life."
To bring this captivating theme to life, various materials such as thermocol, plywood, and coloured EVA foam have been meticulously used in the construction of the pandal. The chosen colour scheme for the pandal will revolve around black with a touch of silver, creating an aesthetically pleasing and culturally relevant ambience.
An allocation of ₹28 lakh has been set aside to ensure that this tribal-themed Durga Puja Pandal is not only an artistic representation but also a rich cultural experience for the community.
