GUWAHATI: The Sarusajai Sports Complex is beaming with anticipation as the All Assam Triathlon/Aquathlon Championships is all set to take place on July 29-30.
Organised under the wings of the Assam Triathlon Federation (ATF), the event will witness a total of 70 participants (boys and girls) who will be competing against each other for victory.
The championships will feature participants across various age categories, each facing unique challenges set accordingly for their age and ability.
The Mini boys and girls category will be challenged with a 300-meter swimming event followed by a 2-kilometer run.
The Sub-Junior category will have to swim 400 meters and run 3 kilometers.
For the Junior boys and girls group, the entire ordeal will be a bit challenging with a 700-meter swimming challenge and a 5-kilometer run.
Meanwhile, the elder Junior participants will face an additional 500-meter swimming race along with a 15-kilometer cycling segment before finishing with a 3-kilometer run.
However, the Senior boys' category promises an intense competition with a demanding 5-kilometer run, an 800-meter swimming event, and a gruelling 20-kilometer cycling leg.
According to the secretary of ATF, Arup Thakuria, "The competitive nature of the sport highlights the low participation levels of many potential participants."
Thakuria further mentions that, so far, the response has been very good and participants from various districts.
The winners of this gruelling competition will earn the opportunity to compete at the national triathlon championship in Goa, where they will represent Assam on a larger stage.
