Guwahati Administration Asks For Foot Over-Bridge At Ganeshguri

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration has asked for a foot over-bridge at Ganeshguri in Guwahati to minimise road congestion.

In a recent meeting, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (M), Pallav Gopal Jha has asked the PWD, National Highways and State Road Division to take initiative for the construction of a foot over-bridge with escalators in the mentioned area. The bridge will connect the Ganeshguri Retail Shop Market with the Barowari Puja Ghar on the opposite side.

The decision comes after several departments including the Transport Department and Guwahati Traffic Police highlighted the issue.

The Dr RP Road from Ganeshguri Chariali towards Ganesh Mandir witnesses day-long congestion of both vehicular and foot traffic. The road passes through an important market area with retail shops on both sides including a GMC market.

On the other hand, the PWD is considering not to construct the proposed foot over-bridge on RG Baruah Road connecting Sharddhanjali Kanan to the Assam State Zoo, and instead extend the under-construction flyover in the area to the NRL Petrol Depot at Sundarpur.
