Guwahati: ACA Barsapara Stadium Infrastructure Still Questionable

GUWAHATI: The T20 International match between India and South Africa held at Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Barsapara stadium on Sunday, October 2, has raised questions regarding the infrastructure of the international cricket stadium.

The match witnessed two awkward moments, firstly a reptile doubted to be a snake entered the field which was caught and taken off the field by the ground staff.

A cricket lover who came all the way from Manipur talking to G Plus said that such an incident is not expected in an international stadium.

The second incident which has further raised questions about the infrastructure, is that the match was halted for a while as electricity flow stopped because of some malfunction in the connections of the electricity in the stadium.

"For the past few days there have been issues regarding electricity and the air conditions in the stadium," said an ACA source in the condition of anonymity.

Visitors also complained about the AC not working in the Box. "It was only after complaining multiple times, it was fixed", said a visitor to G Plus under the condition of anonymity.

A female fan who visited the stadium told G Plus that the washroom is in pathetic condition and most of the interior of the stadium is still in a construction phase.

It needs to be mentioned that the ACA is trying to get a 'test match status' which needs approval from the International Cricket Council. The ICC is particular about the infrastructure and incidents like this will raise serious questions about the future of the stadium in Guwahati.
