GUWAHATI: The 48 Assam Naval Unit NCC, under the aegis of the Guwahati Group, organised a cleanliness drive at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati on Thursday.
The drive was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Inland Water Transport (IWT) and the Guwahati Municipality Corporation (GMC).
Over 200 NCC cadets and 30 staff members from 10 colleges in the Kamrup and Barpeta districts of the state took part in this drive.
The teams were assigned specific areas along the Ghat to clean and beautify.
The mission was to do their part in beautifying Guwahati and making the city cleaner.
Apart from collecting debris from the Lachit Ghat, the NCC cadets also planted saplings in the location, adding to the area's greenery and beauty.
The cadets also interacted with the locals and told them about the importance of keeping the environment clean.
The cadets shared several tips with the locals on how to reduce the use of plastic and other materials that are harmful to the environment.
