Guwahati: 120 Bottles Of Illicit Liquor Seized At Kamakhya Junction

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized over 100 bottles of illicit liquor in a train at the Kamakhya Junction on January 17.

During a routine checking drive by RPF against the carriage of contraband goods, 120 illicit bottles of liquor was seized. The operation was carried out by the officers and staff of Kamakhya Junction. 

During the drive, six unclaimed bags were found concealed beneath different seats in coach no-S-2 and S-3 of train no-15657 DN B.P Mail. Upon inspection of the bags, it was revealed that they contained a significant number of illicit liquor bottles.

The recovered goods were subsequently de-trained on platform number 4, and seized by Assistant SUb-Inspector (ASI) C.S Das of RPF, Kamakhya Junction. The estimated value of the recovered illicit liquor is ₹36,060.

The seized liquor will be handed over to the Superintendent of Excise Guwahati for further necessary action. Further details await.
