GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, (DVAC) caught a GST official red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe.
The arrest occurred in the late hours of February 12, Wednesday.

The accused Lony Barman, Nazir of the Office of the Assistant Commissioner, state GST, Sribhumi, was apprehended immediately after allegedly receiving ₹10,000 from a complainant. The bribe was allegedly demanded in exchange for the release of the complainant’s goods-laden vehicle.
The operation carried out by the DVAC authorities ensured that Barman was caught in the act. Further legal proceedings are underway.
