Govt Likely To Change Timings Of State-Run Banks

GUWAHATI: The banking division of the finance ministry is likely to change the timings of state-run banks.

In June earlier this year, the banking division held a meeting where they discussed that timings of banks should be changed to make banking more convenient for customers.

At the meeting, the Indian Bank Association (IBA) gave three options for the opening timings of the bank branch. These include 9 am to 3 pm, 10 am to 4 pm and 11 am to 5 pm.

Authorities from IBA have asked the banks to decide on the timings by meeting with their respective district level customer coordination committee by August 31. They have also been asked to declare the timings in their local newspapers.

This decision will apply to all government and regional rural banks (RRBs) and is likely to be implemented from September.
