GMDA Conducts a Public Hearing, Assures Immediate Redressal of Grievances

GUWAHATI: Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) organized a second public hearing on 17th February at its office premises.

The hearing was held in an effort to maintain and project transparency in its administrative matters. The meeting was presided over by GMDA Chairman Ashok Singhal and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Moloy Bora.

Public grievances were heard and Singhal attempted to offer immediate and instant redressal. The engineers responsible for each issue were called forward and were asked to present immediate solutions to the problems and issues raised.

Further, Singhal said, "The building permission files go through three officials viz the concerned engineer, town planner and then the CEO. I will be issuing an order so that none of these concerned authorities can hold on to the files for more than one week from now on."

Regarding the botanical garden that was to be set up at the old jail in Fancy Bazaar, GMDA informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been completed and work would soon be started.

It was informed that if public demand arises, more such “public hearings’ would be held in the next month.
