GUWAHATI: One person who tested positive for COVID-19 in Guwahati last night is a student pursuing Post Graduation in Gauhati Medical College (GMCH).
Every person that has come in contact with this student is to be tested for coronavirus and the GMCH is to be shut for new patients for sanitization of its premises for the next few days, updated state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter.
“A PG student at Gauhati Medical College tested COVID positive last night. Consequently we have to screen everyone who came in contact with him and sanitize the entire GMCH premises. As such we have to close the hospital for new patients for the next few days” the minister tweeted.

Prior to this case, four persons had tested positive for COVID-19 in Guwahati last night. This brings the total number of active cases in Assam to19 now; 34 have been discharged and one death has been recorded so far.
