GMCH Doctors Directed To Stop Private Nursing Home Practice

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) doctors have been asked to stop providing services at private nursing homes. Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the Principal of the GMCH to ensure "that such acts are stopped."

"There have been complaints about certain doctors providing services at private nursing homes during their duty hours. Directed GMCH Principal to ensure that such acts are stopped," the Assam CM said. 

The instructions were given by CM Sarma during his visit to the GMCH on December 19. Further, he stressed the yeoman service rendered to patients by the hospital. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also discussed the new super specialty block in the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.  

"I discussed the new super-specialty Block to be launched in Feb 2022, and on ways to utilise ICU for other patients since COVID cases are less," the Assam Chief Minister stated.
