GMC Unveils Public Infrastructure And Waste Management Initiatives

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) inaugurated a series of transformative projects on March 12 aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and waste management capabilities across the city.

The key urban development projects are:

•    Public Toilet and Cremation/Burial Grounds: Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), GMC unveiled 17 public toilet blocks and 6 cremation/burial grounds, equipped with essential amenities.
•    Community Halls and Bus Queue Shelters: The inauguration ceremony marked the unveiling of 9 community halls and announced plans for the construction of 45 new bus queue shelters along major roads in the city.
•    Swachh Centre Adabari and Purabi Dairy RTS-cum-MRF: GMC inaugurated the Swachh Centre at Adabari, a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) designed to collect, segregate, and recover dry waste, including plastic. Additionally, the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Purabi Dairy Refuse Transfer Station cum MRF aims to enhance modern waste management practices.
