Guwahati: GMC to Impose Penalty for Throwing Garbage on Road

GUWAHATI: In a bid to ensure cleanliness in the city and a pledge to support the national movement ‘Swachhta hi Seva', the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has ramped up measures.

As an extension to the ongoing campaign for 'Swachh Bharat Mission', the Commissioner of GMC has initiated a mega clean-up drive in Guwahati. This drive entails enforcing penalties on the Licensee who throws waste on the roads.

Licensees imposed with penalty would not be eligible to renew their licenses automatically until they obtain No Objection Certificate from Executive Engineer, GMC.

Guwahati Municipal Corporation urged everyone to join hands in making Guwahati clean and green.

"The penalty will be imposed on trade license holders (licensee) who throw their garbage/waste materials on road and their license will not be auto-renewed if they do not clean the area and get the NOC from the Executive engineer. The penalty depends on the materials and will be decided by the divisional engineers," a GMC official told G Plus.
