GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania, addressing the media on Monday, January 27, emphasised the need for accountability among businesses to ensure a cleaner city. “Shops that do not keep dustbins or litter on roads and drains will initially face a fine of ₹1,000. If violations continue, their trade license will be cancelled,” he warned.
The move comes amid growing concerns over clogged drains and littered streets, which have led to sanitation and environmental issues in the city. GMC officials are expected to conduct inspections to enforce the rules and create awareness among shop owners about proper waste disposal.
