GUWAHATI: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Mayor, Mrigen Sarania, shared the plans to construct pink bus stoppages dedicated to women to enhance their safety and convenience.
Talking to GPlus, Sarania said, "We are planning to construct pink bus stoppages for women. In these bus stoppages, there will be a changing room and breastfeeding room for women. The initiative aims to prioritise women's needs during their commutes."

The GMC's plan includes the construction of 10 pink bus stoppages across Guwahati, providing women with dedicated spaces to address their specific requirements.
Sarania also highlighted the importance of creating an environment that promotes the well-being and comfort of female commuters.
On March 12, at ITA Machkhowa, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) introduced a series of transformative projects designed to enhance urban infrastructure and waste management in the city. Among the initiatives, the focus on public toilets stands out, aligning with the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban).

Under this mission, GMC inaugurated 17 public toilet blocks and 6 cremation/burial grounds, strategically positioned across the city's wards. Equipped with essential amenities, these facilities, valued at ₹3,36,94,850, aim to improve sanitation accessibility, responding to the needs of the growing population.
Additionally, the GMC addressed the requirement for community spaces, inaugurating 9 community halls with a total value of ₹1,78,38,450.
