GMC Organises Workshop To Promote Government Schemes And Citizen Awareness

 

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) hosted the "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra" at two prominent locations in the city - Lachit Ghat and Nabaroop Sangha Jahaz Ghat in Uzan Bazar on December 11.

The "Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra" is a nationwide initiative aimed at spreading awareness about various government schemes and policies among citizens. The campaign employs outreach activities to achieve comprehensive coverage of Government of India schemes across the country, encompassing Gram Panchayats, Nagar Panchayats, and Urban Local Bodies.

The event featured several activities, including "Meri Kahani Meri Zubani," where beneficiaries of various government schemes shared their experiences and the benefits they have derived. Additionally, the program offered free health care check-ups, Aadhar card registration, Ayushman Card generation, and registration for various government schemes, ensuring easier access for those in need.

The Chief Guest for the event was the Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Mrigen Sarania who was joined by the Vice Chairman of GMDA and local councilors of GMC. Both locations saw the participation of more than a thousand people.

As part of the initiative, an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) van provided by the Government of India showcased short films highlighting the welfare schemes of the government. These films covered schemes such as PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM Svanidhi, and more.
