GMC Conducts Inspection Drive In Bamunimaidam

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) conducted a joint inspection drive with the joint director of health services, Kamrup (M) and joint director of health services, national vector borne disease control programme (NVBDCP) Assam.

The team inspected hotels, restaurants, health premises other commercial trade premises in Bamunimandam Railway Colony area and also created awareness on cleanliness and the source reduction activities for vector control.

Senior health officer at GMC, Dr Anandita Chanda, told G Plus, “The GMC inspected the trade licenses of all the trade premises. We not only inspected hotels and restaurants but other trade premises as well.”

She added that nine notices were issued to those health premises which were found to be unhygienic and action will be taken against them.  

The inspection team was also accompanied by GMC flying squads which cleaned any garbage and littering around the area immediately.

“We also created awareness among traders and others and asked them not to litter the premises and maintain cleanliness. We told them to other people too who are found lettering,” said Chanda.

The authorities informed that they also created awareness on source reduction for dengue.
