GUWAHATI: A team of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam apprehended the Chief Engineer of Guwahati Municipal Corporation for accepting a bribe on Wednesday, March 22.
Indrajit Bora was apprehended immediately after he accepted the demanded bribe from the complainant for releasing his security deposit, tweeted Surendra Kumar, ADGP, Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam.
Further, on the same day, the Directorate of Anti-Corruption also arrested Lagan Basowar, Lat Mandal, O/O Circle Officer, Biswanath Revenue Circle after he accepted demanded bribe for mutation of his purchased plot of land. In the same trap operation, Rajesh Tanti, the middleman was also apprehended.
The team also arrested Md. Azahar Ali Ahmed, Lat Mandal, Circle Officer, Baghbor Revenue Circle after he accepted the demanded bribe of ₹20,000 for demarcation of his land.
It needs to be mentioned that, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam has executed 11 successful trap operations and arrested 15 persons so far this month.
