Gauhati University's PG Students’ Union Elections In Full Swing 

 

GUWAHATI: The Gauhati University started the much-awaited post-graduate students’ union elections on September 21. The open debate shall be held on September 26 from 9 AM to 3 PM. 

The candidates vying for the post of President are Jintu Das from Commerce (7th Semester) and Nihar Ranjan Bhuyan from Biotechnology (3rd Semester). Meanwhile, the candidates vying for the post of vice president are Arif Hussain and Hritwij Thakur, both from Communication and Journalism (3rd Semester).

The candidates vying for the post of General Secretary are Deep Darshan Kalita from Commerce (9th Semester) and Himanjit Deka from Political Science (3rd Semester). Meanwhile, the candidates vying for the post of Assistant General Secretary are Niharika Devi from the Assamese Department (3rd Semester), Raisumai Brahma from Sociology (3rd Semester) and Ujjal Paul from English Language Teaching (1st Semester).

The candidates vying for the post of Literary Secretary are Naba Kanta Boruah from the Assamese Department (3rd Semester) and Sudema Bargayary from the Bodo Department (3rd Semester). Meanwhile, the candidates vying for the post of Cultural Secretary are Lakhyajit Saikia from Commerce (3rd Semester) and Spaini Barman from Communication and Journalism (3rd Semester).

Finally, the candidates vying for the post of Sports Secretary are Swrang Basumatary and Rishob Narzary, both from the Bodo Department (3rd Semester). 

The casting of votes for the elections will be held on September 28 from 10 AM and the counting of votes will be done on September 29.
