GUWAHATI: On 2nd September, the Gauhati High Court conducted the second hearing of the case in the Dehing Patkai issue.
A suo moto case on PIL number 3/20 along with PIL no 29/2020 and other related PILs challenging the approval granted by the 57th Meeting of National Board of Wild Life (NBWL) for Open Cast Project (OCP) in Tikok area and in the Saleki Proposed Reserve Forest was taken by the Gauhati High Court.

In the proceeding conducted through video conference, the Gauhati High Court observed that further proceeding would be conducted after the reports of the Inquiry Commission that was instituted by the government was received.
Further, all concerned parties including Coal India Ltd, The National Board of Wild Life and the Assam government were asked to file reports on allegations against them.
The next date of hearing has been fixed for 20th October, 2020.
