Talking to GPlus, a resident of the Uzanbazar area said, “It is difficult passing through the area due to the unbearable stench. And I have to do this on a regular basis. I do not know what the authorities concerned are doing about this.”
Locals and commuters have also stated that it is difficult to pass through the area, especially during the night and in winter-induced low visibility as people may stumble and fall in the heaps of garbage.
A senior official of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, however, blamed the citizens for the filthy state of affairs. He told GPlus, “The area has been cleaned before, but the citizens themselves dump the garbage, and there is only so much we can do. The citizens must be aware and responsible, too."
Nevertheless, the citizens are now seeking a resolution of the issue.
