GUWAHATI: In a major boost to the Centre's Regional Connectivity Scheme, regular flights from Rupsi Airport in Kokrajhar to Guwahati and Kolkata have now been extended to six days a week. Flights will now take off from Rupsi to these two destinations on all days of the week except Monday.
"We are happy to announce flight for Guwahati and Kolkata from #Rupsi Airport on every Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat & Sun. The regular flight service, all days a week except Mondays, has started from today w.e.f 18 Feb. 2022," tweeted Rupsi Airport, Assam.
"We are happy to announce that Rupsi Airport will now be operating flights every day except Monday. It was among the major demands of the passengers travelling through this airport," said Hemang Arora, Airport In-charge, Rupsi Airport.
We continue to provide better amenities to our passengers and stakeholders at Rupsi, which has provided much-needed flight services under the Govt's flagship programme UDAN to people of this area, he added.
Rupsi Airport was re-developed under the Regional Connectivity Scheme RCS-UDAN and was opened to the public on May 8, 2021.
Till January 2022, over 31,100 passengers have traveled through the Rupsi Airport and it has recorded 578 schedule flight movements during this period.
