According to an FIR lodged by the victim’s wife, Anindita Rajkumari, at Bhagaduttapur Outpost, her husband had been missing since September 27. She later received a call from an unknown number on September 28, during which the caller informed her that her husband had been kidnapped.

The kidnappers demanded ₹1 crore for Singha’s safe release, and threatened to kill him if the ransom was not paid. Once the case came to light, it was overseen by DCP (East), Guwahati, and carried out by Woman Sub-Inspector Maina Das, the in-charge of Bhagaduttapur Outpost, along with her team.

Following technical analysis, the police further proceeded to the West Garo Hills district in Meghalaya, where a joint operation was launched with the Didenggre Police Station.
