GUWAHATI: The Cyber Police Station (PS) in Guwahati recovered ₹5.5 lakh on October 8, which was credited back to the account of a victim who had fallen prey to a fake online investment scam.
The victim, a resident of Zoo Tiniali, Guwahati, had earlier lost ₹40 lakh in the fraudulent scheme.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to recover more of the lost funds. The scam, part of a growing trend in online investment frauds, had duped the victim into transferring a large sum of money with the promise of high returns.
The Cyber Police have urged citizens to exercise caution when dealing with online investment platforms to avoid such scams.
