GUWAHATI: Veteran politician and former governor of Bihar, Tripura and West Bengal, Devananda Konwar passed away on Saturday morning in Guwahati.
He was 77 years old.

Konwar joined the Indian National Congress Party in 1955 as a Student Leader and later became the Cabinet minister in the state government of Assam in 1991 Hiteswar Saikia Government.
Konwar took oath as Bihar governor on Jun 29, 2009.
It is to be mentioned that Konwar was a four time legislator from Assam. He served as the finance minister in the Tarun Gogoi-led government.
