Five Young Cricketers from Assam to be Part of IPL 2020

GUWAHATI: Making Assam proud, five young cricketers from the state will be participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, to be held at the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Apart from Riyan Parag who will be playing for Rajasthan Royal, four others namely Jitumoni Kalita from Lakhimpur, Rahul Singh from Silchar, Mrinmoy Dutta from Nagoan and Mukhtar Hussain from Dibrugarh have been selected as net bowlers in the league. 


While the former three will be playing with Rajasthan Royals, the latter, Hussain, has been selected for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Devajit Lon Saikia, Secretary of Assam Cricket Association, speaking to G Plus said, "It is a proud moment for Assam. Jitumoni, Rahul, and Mrinmoy participated in Rajasthan Royal's team selection last October. As for Mukhtar, he was training at MRF Pace Foundation when the coaches of Hyderabad team noticed him and took him in. He debuted in 2018-19 in the Ranji Trophy and recorded the highest number of wickets, 40 in total."


They will all be travelling to Dubai soon to participate in the Indian Premier League.
